  100 NUMBER Darkman   Drkman Pic

Solid platformer that has an unfortunately un-intuitive control system that takes a while to get used to, if you take the time though you'll find a very imaginative game.

One of the only (if not the only) tube shooters available on the N.E.S and it's a good one, i'd personally advise people to use control method B.

Nice conversion of the arcade, the added 2-player Co-Operative mode was also a great extra other versions missed out on.

Nice (if a little generic at times) Multi-directional scrolling shooter, with an enjoyable 2-player mode.

Fantastic Pac-Man clone that oozes style and playability, another classic 2-player N.E.S game (there seem to have been so many)

Double Dragon II   Double Dragon II pic

The second game in the seminal double dragon series, a series that popularised the whole Beat-em-up genre when originaly released at the arcades, this was a pretty decent conversion too all things considered.

  Dizzy the Adventurer   dizzy pic

The only dizzy game that retains the series feel that's available on the N.E.S (this is actually a renamed Dizzy VI ) gameplay consists of wandering around talking to people and solving their problems, it's all very English really (probably why these games were never popular in the U.S)

Very enjoyable vertically scrolling shooter in the Xevious mold, which has good music, cut scenes and a general high level of presentation throughout.

Absolutely fantastic 2-player platform game that would probably have entered much higher on this list if it wasn't so disappointingly short and easy, great while it lasts though.

Top quality update of Break-out with new power ups and level designs, great fun.

  Tiny Toons   tiny toon pic

It may well be a clone of Super Mario Bros 3 but it's still a very high quality platformer, so anyone who's bored with Mario check this game out.

Horizontally scrolling shooter in the Side-arms mold, with a strange biological style to the stage design, difficult to master.

Another great game from Sunsoft, one of the more underrated of N.E.S developers, and proof that licences, when handled by the right company can turn out right.

Bucky O' Hare   bucky o hare pic

Insanely fast platform-shooter that came out late in the N.E.S' lifetime and is now pretty hard to find, the usual high quality we've come to expect from Konami.

Cool platform-RPG that never seems to get the praise it deserves, recommended for all RPG nuts out there.

  Metal Gear   Metal Gear pic

The first metal gear game and the start of the whole "stealth" genre. Though the conversion left a lot to be desired (check out the original MSX version which is virtually a completely different game) there's still enough good things about this game to earn it a place in the top 100.

One of the first Extreme sports games and a timeless classic, must have been an inspiration for later games such as Tony Hawkes.

Isometric game that is hard to classify due to it's number of varied play styles, very under-valued

Adventure Island II   adventure island pic

Great sequel to the original classic, added a some nice new elements whilst staying quite close to the original game.

Another Nintendo classic on the N.E.S. Not much else to say about it really apart from hopefully it'll be updated soon.
